In a major development, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially announced the ends paper ticket system on all toll plazas across Punjab. This move aims to introduce a modern, transparent, and efficient transportation system similar to the Motorway’s “One App, One System” model. Under this plan, 38 toll plazas in Punjab will be fully digitalized, allowing smooth and quick travel for commuters while ensuring transparency and improved management.
During a high-level meeting on provincial development projects, Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed that all newly constructed roads should have solar street lights to promote energy conservation and an eco-friendly environment. The government’s focus is clear to make Punjab a modern, smart, and green province where technology and public convenience go hand in hand.

The meeting also approved the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of five major highways under a Public-Private Partnership model. Officials informed that through e-tendering, the Punjab government saved Rs. 40 billion, ensuring financial transparency and efficiency in development spending.
To enhance Lahore’s beauty, revamping projects for the Railway Station, Data Darbar, Misri Shah, Ek Moriya, and Do Moriya bridges were approved. A fountain park and a mini train for children will also be established near the Railway Station, while new roads and footpaths will be built within a 3 km radius of the area.

Furthermore, 54 large bridges, 142 small bridges, and 858 roads damaged during recent floods have already been restored. The Multan-Vehari Road is being declared Punjab’s first dust-free road, which will be completed by June 2026. Similarly, the Tourism Corridor from Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wagah Border will also be completed by June next year, promoting tourism and local business growth.

In addition, it was revealed that road repair and maintenance in Murree, Chakwal, and Sahiwal have been completed. Under the CM Punjab Initiative, 10,000 km of new roads are in the final construction phase, promising smoother connectivity and better travel experiences for millions of citizens.
